SuperGravy® for Dogs Facing Chronic Health Challenges and Those on Veterinary Prescription Diets

Can I Use SuperGravy® with Veterinary Diets?

Frequently, we are contacted by current and new customers whose dogs have been placed on veterinary diets—sometimes known as “prescription” pet foods—made by brands such as Hill’s®, Royal Canin®, Purina Pro Plan®, or Blue Buffalo® Natural Veterinary Diet.

Pet parents are often under a great deal of stress when their dogs don’t eat these diets well, as veterinarians prescribe them for specific health reasons. The natural question is: Can SuperGravy® safely help improve the taste and palatability of prescription diets so dogs will eat as their veterinarians recommend?

The answer is YES.

Veterinary diets are formulated with strict management of protein, fat, minerals, and other nutrients. As shown below, SuperGravy® contributes only very small quantities of protein and fat, and contains no added minerals whatsoever. We intentionally formulated all SuperGravy® recipes to have minimal dietary impact while dramatically enhancing taste and providing gut and immune support through active probiotics, natural prebiotics, functional postbiotics, and digestive enzymes.

Because of this low nutrient load and functional focus, SuperGravy® can be safely and confidently used as an adjunct to any veterinary prescription diet — helping your dog eat better, feel better, and get the most from every meal.

SuperGravy® and Dogs with Chronic Health Conditions

Protein Amount vs. Percentage

The key nutritional principle behind SuperGravy® is moderation. Each recipe is designed to provide appetite and digestive support in a very small daily serving. One scoop weighs just 4 grams.

A full day’s serving of SuperGravy® adds no more than 1.8–1.9 grams of protein — about the size of a thumbnail piece of beef, chicken, or fish.

For perspective, compare this to popular “low-protein” veterinary diets: One serving of SuperGravy® adds a maximum of 1.9 g protein — versus one cup of Hill’s k/d (14% protein ≈ 14 g) or l/d (18% protein ≈ 17 g). This shows why protein percentages can be misleading without looking at actual intake.

Mineral Safety

SuperGravy® contains no added minerals such as copper, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, or calcium. This is especially important for dogs with kidney, liver, or other metabolic conditions where mineral management is part of the treatment plan.

Calorie Impact

All four SuperGravy® recipes are under 19 calories per serving, so they do not meaningfully increase daily caloric intake and will not contribute to obesity or unwanted weight gain.

Fat Content

SuperGravy® is naturally low in fat, with less than one gram of fat per serving across all recipes — a safe level for dogs with pancreatitis or other fat-sensitive conditions.

Gut & Microbiome Support

Every scoop of SuperGravy® provides a comprehensive gut health package: active probiotics, natural prebiotics, functional postbiotics, and digestive enzymes. This Quadragestive™ approach helps support a balanced microbiome and better nutrient absorption — essential for dogs coping with chronic health conditions.

SuperGravy® is designed to be safe and gentle while making mealtimes more appealing. Along with boosting appetite, it helps support digestion with probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes — all in a nutritionally light, low-impact topper.

Keeping dogs eating is one of the most important goals when managing chronic conditions. SuperGravy® was created to help you do just that, while keeping dietary impact minimal and safe.
