Is SuperGravy® Safe for My Dog? A Nutritionist’s Perspective
Thank you for asking great questions about how SuperGravy® fits into your dog’s diet — whether for everyday use in healthy dogs of all life stages or for pups with special health needs like kidney, liver, or pancreatic concerns, or if you’re carefully managing protein, fat, or mineral intake.
As the Co-Founder & Chief Nutrition Officer of Clear Conscience Pet® and Formulator of SuperGravy® and All Clear Conscience Pet® Products, I’m happy to explain why the formulas are designed for broad safety when used as directed.
Understanding *Percentages* in Context
When assessing the *percentages* listed on a pet supplement, food, or treat label, the *percentages* must always be understood in the context of actual *consumption amounts*:
Amount Consumed × Nutrient Percentage = Total Intake
Example:
- One scoop (~4 g) of Paw Jus® contains ~1.9 g protein — a very small addition to your dog’s daily diet, even though the dry powder itself is 48% protein.
- By comparison, therapeutic diets like Hill’s K/D (~15% protein) or similar clinical diets provide ~57 g protein daily for a large dog and at least ~10 g protein daily even for very small dogs.
This is by no means a criticism — simply a clarification that SuperGravy, when used as directed, does not meaningfully increase total protein intake.
